Just one too many horrors in my secret treasure box
And so I have shut it and closed it with locks.
I wanted to fill it with gold and precious stones.
But I seem to have filled it with skeleton bones.
I’m trying to shine so you’ll see that I’m happy.
I stay pretty still so you can’t hear the rattle.
But what do I do with these bones of mine?
Maybe polish them up so you’ll see that I shine?
I fear that they rattle, no matter how deep I put them.
In my dreams they’re a frightscape that I can’t escape from.
I’ll just wear them as if they were perfectly natural.
A frightful beauty, you’ll say, how spectacular.
